The Art of Amber Preservation: Unveiling Exquisite Techniques for Amber Care

Methods for Preserving Amber

1. Avoid placing amber in high temperatures or prolonged direct sunlight, as excessive dryness may lead to the formation of cracks. Exercise particular caution with open flames, ensuring they are kept at a distance.

2. Being an organic, natural fossil, amber is susceptible to erosion by acids and alkalis. Therefore, keep it away from such substances and refrain from using cleansers with chemical components, as they may strip away its original luster.

3. Due to its low hardness, amber is vulnerable to impact from hard objects. Handle with care to prevent it from falling or colliding, and avoid contact with sharp objects.

4. Do not store amber together with other jewelry. Instead, place it in a sealed jewelry box, ensuring it is individually wrapped and protected from prolonged exposure to air or intense light, which could cause oxidation and loss of its original shine.

5. After wearing, gently wipe the amber with a clean, damp cloth. If it becomes dusty, rinse it with warm water, then dry it with a soft cloth. Applying a small amount of olive oil can help restore its luster. Conventional jewelry cleaners are not suitable for amber.
